Job Overview:

As a Network Services Engineer you will be expected to work with other members of the network infrastructure team supporting the IBM global network. You will be responsible for network operations and infrastructure services regionally and globally, inclusive of voice experience. As a part of the Network Team, the candidate’s responsibilities will include day to day hands on network operations management, service management including incident management, change management and to create and maintain documentation as well as the ability to apply a skilled variety of coding technologies supporting tools automation with focus on the availability, resiliency, reliability, security and scalability of the network infrastructure, platforms, and services from an operations perspective.



Responsibilities:

- Design, analyze and advise on solutions to improve service availability and reliability using SRE tenets. Implement and Configure required observability and monitoring, in order to determine the required SLI's and to achieve desired SLO's.

- Continuous interaction with Network Engineering squads to maintain network availability and compliance, and Vendors to drive critical items to completion in the area of Wide Area Network, Campus infrastructure and internet transport.

- Track project statuses, resolve roadblocks (resource constraints, requirement ambiguity, etc.), and communicate ongoing progress to stakeholders.

- Work with Operations and vendors on reported issues until completion, including Incident and Change Management.

- Create and Manage Capacity Dashboard to monitor key matrix required for Steady State operations model.

- Plan and deliver Network upgrades, installations of new products and supporting existing appliances. Provide technical guidance to project managers and lead architecture and hardware discussions with vendors.

- Promote effective team collaboration.



Required Experience:

- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT Infrastructure / Network Engineering with Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper, or other large-scale vendor certifications.

- Extensive application support experience within WANs, LANs, Wireless. Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards.

- Ability to operate network component analyzers, scanners, and testers. Ability to provide direction, communicate and provide strong leadership to network vendors who provide products and services.

- Demonstrate capability managing simultaneous projects, crisis situations, and successfully meeting deadlines. Facilitate team problem-resolution discussions and effectively outline options & evaluation of tradeoffs and mitigations.

- Manage, quarterly or every 6 months review and log awareness of Issues & Resolutions for reviews for backlog prioritization and continuous improvement(s), inclusive of innovation, automation, process improvements and/or AI.

- Provide and report on monthly achievement status and data driven metrics at the desired frequency (month-to-month, quarter-to-quarter, year-to-year) and contribute to planning sessions.



Preferred Experience:

- Project Management experience

- NSO (Network Services Orchestrator), DNS/DHCP, Infoblox, CISCO ISE & CSP, LDAP

- Proven analytic skills and the ability to isolate and resolve complex issues

- Demonstrated ability to defend and support ideas and experience working across diverse teams to facilitate solutions

- Voice Experience, SRE Experience, Software Development Experience
